Smoked Salmon with Ancient Grains & Superfoods

My German Shepherd rescue, Eddie, is the very first dog I have owned all by myself! I had dogs growing up as a kid, but they were family dogs. So, when I adopted Eddie six months ago I wanted to make sure I chose the right food that would provide him with all of the nutrients he needed!
I began feeding him food that was Grain-free and what I believed to be high-quality, nutrient-rich, dog food.
But at Eddie’s first vet visit, the vet said that Grain-free was actually not better for dogs. She said that because it is a fad/trend in human diets, we automatically think it is also a good thing for our dogs, as well. She explained that potatoes and/or legumes are added as an alternative and usually in a much higher, unhealthy amount.

My vet said that unless my dog had an allergy to grain, then there really is no need to feed him grain-free food. And since German Shepherds are prone to heart issues, she highly recommended feeding Eddie dog food with grains.
