One of My Favorite Mineral Sunscreens

I mentioned in a previous post, how my skin reacts to products with harsh chemicals in them, and sunscreen is no different! When mineral sunscreens started popping up 5 or so years ago, I jumped right on that trend and I never went back to the “regular” kinds of sunscreen ever again…

Mineral sunscreen is less likely to cause skin irritation or allergic reactions, making it a good choice for people with sensitive skin (like me!).

Additionally, mineral sunscreen is environmentally friendly as it does not contain harmful chemicals that can damage marine life or the ecosystem. It will often display something on the bottle stating that it is “Reef-safe” or “Reef-friendly”…similar to the picture here!

Blue Lizard Australian Mineral Sunscreen is one of my favorites!

The mineral-based formula is free of parabens, fragrance, and other harmful chemicals. It provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes. It applies smoothly and absorbs quickly without leaving a white cast or greasy residue. When you first pour it from the bottle, it may seem to be a bit thick, so I just rub my hands together (the warmth of my hands seems to “melt” the sunscreen) helping it spread like butter!

And I actually think this sunscreen makes the appearance of my skin look better! It gives it a subtle glow (not glittery or sparkly), just a healthy glow.

Lastly, the bottle will literally turn BLUE when it is exposed to UV light (providing a friendly reminder that it is time to apply sunscreen)!

Oh, and my sister-in-law’s father has never been able to wear sunscreen because his skin has broken out in hives each and every time he has ever applied it. When he visited us, I told him to “patch” test Blue Lizard- clearly he didn’t know the meaning of “patch” test as he proceeded to rub it all over his face! Lol…I thought to myself, I really hope his face doesn’t swell up right now…

Butttt he was fine! First sunscreen ever to not irritate his skin.

So overall, Blue Lizard Mineral Sunscreens are a great choice for those looking for a safe and effective way to protect their skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
